What is Copywriting?
from: Deb St. George - MarketingSalesCopy.comWhenever a new product or service is launched, or a new idea comes to your mind, what needs to be done to make it a success? Whatever your answer to that question is, you need people to know about it. There would be at least some people, whose support you will need; to whom you need to provide information; whom you need to convince. The answer is copywriting. It does all of that and much more.
Copy writing is also known as persuasive writing. It is also a form of online marketing. The goal of a copywriter is to guide the reader slowly towards taking some kind of action. A copywriter weaves the words in such a manner that the reader can simply follow them and lead to a conclusion.
A good copywriter will keep the words easy, the language simple and interesting. Copy writing is usually done to promote something. It can be anything like a person, a product, a concept, a service or a business. Copy writing is like writing advertisements, that can me used on a website, or sent through mail.
According to famous copywriter Bruce Bendinger, copy writing is composed of a job, verbal carpentry, words on paper, a skilled craft, scripts to time and salesmanship. Now, persuading the user for action may not lead to an immediate sale. The action could be anything from downloading free software, clicking on a link, sending an email to your friends, making a registration, calling a phone number to simply reading on. Whatever it is, generally, it will somehow lead the reader to a sale later.
Copy writing is the most paid form of writing, probably after journalism. The reason is simply the goal of effective marketing. A reader would love to read a story or any type of interesting text and in the mean while get some information about a particular product or service that is being offered by a merchant. And it takes effort to create such a text.
So, if you are a businessperson looking for some expansion, you can use copywriting to increase your business. Copywriting can persuade a visitor on your website to click on the links you provide, or to the advertisements that come up on your website. You can go in for affiliate programs that pay you for sending visitors traffic on their website and in return, their website will send traffic to yours. There are numerous other ways in which copywriting helps your business grow.
