Optimistic Optimization

from: Deb St. George - MarketingSalesCopy.com

When is an algorithm more than just a flowchart? The answer to that is when search engine optimization goes organic! Organic search engine optimization takes into account the organization involved to achieve maximum SEO ratings. There are two approaches to optimization, the first adhering to regulations laid down by the search engines and involving the content of each web page. The second route is less conventional and most often works in contravention of acceptable strategies, not content based but featuring expertise to attain enhanced rankings. This latter approach, however, is not considered to be a feature of search engine optimization in its most unsophisticated sense. Natural format it may be, but the full extent of organic as opposed to simulated SEO explains the concept of taking the intrinsic approach and acquiring enduring results with the search engines.

The most important thing to consider is to deliberate on who uses search engines and why. This can be summed up very briefly: to obtain information quickly and efficiently. This is the prime reason for the effectiveness of search engine optimization and, to optimize its effectiveness, it is essential that good content is the essence of SEO. This obviously creates a considerable amount of work in optimizing the website in the first instance. Due to the amount of work involved in good SEO, some companies focus on extrinsic aspects, utilizing technological ambiguities to deceive the search engines into revealing websites that they would normally skirt around or ignore completely. Techniques such as these involve hidden linking, padding content with key-phrases, URLs to redirect traffic, enshrouding and manifold sites amongst others. This is not organic SEO and is not conducive to what is considered good practice amongst search engines.

Linking is, however, important for organic SEO and links pointing towards the website are crucial. The difference between utilising linking through the organic route and through the simulated route is more than semantics. The organic route is designed to enhance a website to make it attractive to others, while the simulated route makes use of the links without adding anything of use to the website itself, e.g. reciprocal linking being one of the more common routes. Apart from being appropriately listed in SEO Directories, like Yahoo, MSN, Open Directory Project plus others, a website that has been truly organically optimized needs to be listed in more specific directories – those directories which are devoted particularly for the subject the website is all about. This is a continuously evolving facet of SEO as directories are continuously coming to light or gaining in popularity.
