from: Deb St. George - MarketingSalesCopy.comIf you have a website, you must have traffic i.e. luring visitors to your site. Otherwise there is no point in having a website. Generating traffic to your website may be difficult but it is not impossible. There are a few tips and ideas on getting more and more visitors to your site and thus being able to generate a substantial amount of traffic. The more traffic you generate, the more business you can rake in and more will be your profits and market visibility.
The main point is that your website has to be attractive, interesting, easy to visit and pleasing. If all these are there then half the battle in generating traffic is won. Optimize your website for the search engines and you will get traffic. Your keywords should be good, sensible and common so that more people can visit.
There are a couple of other ways of generating traffic. There is no single switch that you can turn on to get traffic. It takes time and patience. Posting comments on people’s blogs, participating in forums in your niche and getting traffic through link exchanges are some ideas which can work and attract traffic to your web site.
Pay per Click (PPC) search engines will get you positive business. This is one of the fastest and the surest way to drive traffic to your web site, especially if it is new.
Blogging is another method as it is an online diary or weblog that is a dynamic process. They are generally updated frequently and the search engines love them.
When you make a post, include a link to your site or webpage. It has been observed that websites that cater to everyone’s everyday needs, professional or personal have a better chance of being sighted by search engines. If your website has posts on food or entertainment or shopping, naturally the traffic generated will be high. Websites on travel are also interesting.
Make a post daily in a niche related to your web site adding a link to it. You can post comments on other’s blogs so that the blog visitor can reach your website through it. You can write an article or two on a topic related to your website and submit it to popular article directories. There are many directories where you can submit as many articles as possible. You can put a video on YouTube and drive traffic to your website. You can write a press release advertising your site so that traffic is diverted that way too.
Apart from these basic tips there are a number of ways in which a customer can be drawn to your website. You can start with a basic set up and move on to more complex ideas once regular traffic starts moving your way.
